Best Practices for Collecting Participant Information on Galxe Quest

This article is for Galxe Space Owners managing Quests and Spaces. If you're looking for information as a community member, such as participating in quests & campaigns, please see our Community Member Help section.

The Collect Participants' Info task on Galxe Quest allows projects to gather user information directly from quest participants. Because this feature involves the collection of personal data, it is important to follow established best practices that promote transparency, data minimization, and participant trust. This article outlines those best practices and provides a step-by-step guide for enabling the feature in a quest.

Be Clear About the Information You Are Collecting

When creating a quest that collects participant information, the quest description should clearly state why the information is required and how it will be used. Transparency builds trust and increases the likelihood that participants will provide accurate details willingly.

Only Collect Necessary Information

Limit data collection to fields that are essential for the quest. Requesting unnecessary details may discourage participation and increases data-handling responsibilities for the project.

Note: Once a quest is released, the information fields configured in the Collect Participants' Info task cannot be modified.

Ensure Data Privacy

Participant data must be stored securely and handled in compliance with applicable data protection regulations. Projects with an existing privacy policy should reference it directly in the quest description so participants understand how their information will be processed. Projects without a privacy policy should establish one before enabling participant information collection.

Reward Participants

Offering incentives to participants who share their information encourages engagement and demonstrates appreciation for the data being shared. Common rewards include tokens, OATs, exclusive access to future quests, and event invitations.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Navigate to the Space Dashboard. Access the Galxe Space dashboard and select an existing quest draft, or create a new one. The Collect Participants' Info task cannot be enabled after a quest has been released.

  2. Enable Collect Participants' Info. Within the quest task settings, toggle on Collect Participants' Info and select the data fields required for the campaign (e.g., X ID, email, Discord ID, wallet address).

  3. Test the Configuration. Before publishing the quest, run a test to confirm that the information collection process works as expected. Resolve any issues identified during testing.

  4. Launch and Promote the Quest. Publish the quest and share it across the project's channels, highlighting both the participation benefits and the rewards on offer.

Example Use Cases

  • Airdrop Campaigns: Collect wallet addresses to distribute tokens securely.

  • Exclusive Events: Use email addresses to send invitations for special events or webinars.

  • Community Engagement: Gather social media identifiers to recognize and reward active community members.
